Nic, yes they do. At midnight the price rose 3 cents to $1.1707 in NB.

A huge upwards movement in spots over the last little while but it has gone down a little since July 14/06, but, not by a big lot.
I expect an adjustment coming... the evidence is there for it.
Check it out, all in cents per litre. I'm still trying to get a handle on the days they use but nothing is forthcoming...yet!

Regulated gas in NS is now based on the New York Harbour Spot Price. That would seem to be the price we should now be concerned with.

New York Harbour prices are converted to Canadian values to get that number. I use the US dollar "noon" value to keep things straight and I record my numbers every day. I have a record of them since 2001 but, I have been posting them here since 2004.

I don't know if anyone is doing some tracking to see how prices are going to go for next week, but I am tracking here at home to see if I can predict what might happen. I'll let you all know how that goes in a few days...
I'm basing pump pricing in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on 60.44 cents per litre right now to see how far off I'm going to be. That was the average of number used from June 12/06 to June 30/06 on my sheets.

Not much in the numbers here. I'm still going with an average of $1.15/Litre for the Rock here with it being a little lower at around $1.12/Litre peak without the hurricane syndrome thrown in.A few slight builds in inventories have kept things steady for the time being.We'll have to take a "wait and see" when true demand kicks in. That might be sooner with the kids out of school out now.

Prices here in St. John's are now $1.15 a litre based on an average of 59.91 cents a litre spot.
According to that, you're about 3 cents too high based on those $1.15 prices I see posted.

Al Zarqawi might have gotten his head knocked off yesterday but it remains to be seen as to how the markets will react.
Oil dropped at the start of the day initally but climbed back up to sustain somewhere around a 50 cent drop in crude pricing.
It seems odd to me that,even in death and the way the markets initially perceived it that they're still looking for that "positive" quirk to drive up the price rather than see it drop.
Exactly what is it we have to see to bring relief to the consumer?...
It may be wise for the government to do an investigation into what some consider the unethical trading in oil pricing.
It's all about huge commissions if you ask me...

it's gone up in PEI simply because their prices are based on what happened in oil pricing for APRIL month-not what's happening right now.
Mind you...
Just because a market is regulated doesn't give a company the excuse to NOT DROP PRICES.
The companies like to hide behind whatever system is being used,not the system of what they deem to be.
Just a further note.

It doesn't look good.The MYMEX is showing all the signs of continuing to head in the wrong direction so much so,that,I believe,they have literrally lost control over seting ANY price for commodities.

Nope...
Fact is that our governments have to be seen to be doing something when they're not.
If it's a 13.5 cent a litre road tax the Nova Scotia government got instead of todays 15 cent a litre tax,it's a recognition that government has some "guilt" in high pricing of fuels.
We don't see government stepping in here and saying "we recognize that you're having a problem with high pricing so here's a recognition of that fact"...
That's my arguement...
Remember that,in Nova Scotia,Nova Scotians are tourists too.
I'm arguing that same point here on the Rock.

Latest spot prices as I have them up until Friday.
You can see how rapid prices increased but a slight drop in spots Friday was probably because of the news on Canada's drop in unemployment rates.That helped the Canuck Buck pick up against the US counterpart and absorbed some of the "shock".
Canuck buck was worth $1.1719 against the US dollar Monday and ended the week at $1.1467.
Drawback here is that,if the buck gains against the US dollar into the summer,it might hurt tourism.What we need to see is an "investment" in dropping gasoline taxes as an incentive to get tourists here.

Note that on the 22nd I had the spot dropping by almost 3.2 not including taxes yet,the price at the pump didn't back down by the same.
"Taken for a Day" I call it...

Wednesday's bad report on gasoline draws on US inventory along with refineries "shut down" for "maintenance" and chageovers, along with figures for overall demand at 2.3% over last years numbers,has done nothing to aleviate the pricing situation.
Time for some divine intervention if we're not going to see high pricing come the summer!

Seems that OPEC will try and keep things as they are for the time being and the Iran IAEA situation might not heat up until next week and if sanctions are reccomended by the United nations as a result,it may well be then that we'll see Iran cut back,or even halt,exports of some 4 million barrles a day.
This week,inventories were down on gasoline but still remain a mere 500,000 barrels over the same level last year but DEMAND is recorded as being 2.5% over the same period last year.
Look for prices to moderate slightly as refineries are recorded this last week as producing at a low of 83% of total capacity as they are said to be switching over from distillate production to gasolines.

This might be the start of the nuclear show in the Middle East as the IAEA,the United Nations nuclear watchdog arm,will decide weather to hold Iran accountable before the UN and invoke sanctions against the country.
Spots are already rising again and they might not stop until you're hit with a buck a litre again.

A thwarted terrorist attack against Saidi Arabia's major export facility drove spot and crude oil prices up on Friday and Al Queda are promising more attempts.
The general area attacked includes one of the world's largest oil export facilities,responsible for almost 6.6 million barrels per day of crude oil exports from Saudi Arabia.

Still ranging down after the International Atomic Energy Agency said that it wouldn't pursue action through the United nations until a months time.
Iran may not face attacks from Israel either as there are three possible nuclear targets in the country and that would make it a more impossible target than what the Israeli's faced in the Osiraq bombing of 1981.
The $2.00 a barrel drop today tho,was mainly caused by speculation of a good inventory build in all areas of crudes,gasoline and distillate inventories.
If good numbers are reported on the 8th,we might see more drops but I wouldn't expect low prices to last-that is,until we see what the UN will do about the Iran problem a month from now.
Enjoy it now because it might not last...

With the Iranian oil minister asking OPEC for that 1 Miliionbarrel production cut the week before and now warnings from the same country to European Union and the United Nations to stay out of it's nuclear energy research,Iran is again promising to use oil as a weapon in the face of possible sanctions.
That possibility has the world wondering about Iran's 4 million barrels per day leaving the markets.
What would that do to prices?...
Hold your breath because I think that oil prices could reach $85.00 US a barrel depending on how long Iranian production would be off the markets-if it were to happen.

A drop in inventories of crude but good builds in distillate and gasoline for the last week might be the forebearer of things to come this week.
Telling on all this was the fact that crude oil went up while the value of the commodities went DOWN.
It was odd to see but we'll take it!
