September 27/05 67.04/Litre September 28/05 72.76/Litre September 29/05 69.28 September 30/05 65.12 October 03/05 64.83 October 04/05 63.58 October 05/05 60.38/Litre
Starve them if you got to people....I would be staying away from the pumps until something "concrete" happens. Remember..Gas stations for gas only.

September 26/05 64.30/Litre September 27/05 67.04?litre
Like i told Rick Howe earlier this week,it was going to have to be either a "steady" in prices or a minimal increase that would work it's way through the pipes. Looks like a modest one on the way as the damage from Rita becomes realized. I got it at about three cents...

George

Out of 2200 traders with the NYMEX that are registered to trade in crude oil,the Sunday session saw some 340 of them trade in the special session. Oil dropped back in electronic trading and is still showing down this morning. Rita didn't turn out to be the storm it was said to be and it looks like oil infrastructure dodged a big bullet. While the pressure is still on for heating oil pricing,we're in the non-demand season for gasoline so,it looks like we're not going to be substantially bitten at the pumps and, could,in fact, see further relief coming as a result. While refineries down Texas way may be shut for a day or two,it's imperative to remember the "pre-storm" facts from Katrina:that there was refined product on the way from the European Union to account for lost production, that OPEC has since lifted it's production quotas and that refineries in the Katrina area weren't down as long as was first thought. Here's what happened Friday...
September 23/05 62.18/Litre

The latest spots don't support the rumour of $2.00 gas...What it does substantiate is that there a lot of plugs who need an education! Here's what I got-you be the judge... All in cents per litre...
September 19/05 61.93/litre September 20/05 59.64 September 21/05 62.26
As I told Rick Howe today, they're rumours and nothing more.I do have aslight upwards movement but the markets are looking like they're in limbo and waiting for Monday's news on the damage.

Latest spots from yours truly... Since the drop back to fridays close, here's what I have...All in cents per litre.
September 16/05 56.88/litre September 19/05 61.93/Litre
The 61.93 is from the markets yesterday where, the imminent arrival of another hurricane entering the Gulf played into the markets.Looks like, according to it's track, that it's headed for another area with major refining centered-the Houston,TX area.Let's hope it dies out before it palys into the markets for the rest of the week. That's a 5.8 cent a litre difference taxes in,that could be passed on at the pump level.

George

In theory, prices at the pump should come down to either 113.9 or 123.9 if it's down 25 cents from the height. At 129.9, we've got at least 6 cents to go. Of course, the face of GREED may dictate we don't see that anytime soon!

Read carefully... Good news here that should translate into a drop at the pumps... The news of the 'early" recovery of refinery op's in the US as well as supply coming from outside sources played heavily in the markets and I'm rccomending a 'hold on buying' until the decrease comes to the pumps.

Latest spot pricing as I have them. Note the last day posted is as a direct result of Hurricane Katrina.Looks like a substantial increase is in the works as Katrina shut down the oil business in the Gulf. If oil drops today and the spot along with it,we jusy might not see what I think is going to happen but,for now, looks like a major hike. All in cents per litre...

Here's the latest... All prices in cents per litre. Don't know if these numbers are going to be the bearers of bad news or not but...
August 01/05 53.78/Litre August 02/05 54.31 August 03/05 54.10 August 04/05 55.27 August 05/05 56.66/Litre
The death of King Faud of Saudi Arabia last week played into the markets as his 80 year old sucessor might not be in place for very long and we simply don't know who is coming up the ranks behind him. The once cozy relationship with Uncle Sam may prove to be more "businesslike" in the future and, with all the moneys being paid to support so many of Fauds family in the past, the past price of crude may not be enough to support all his 30,000 to 60,000 family that have been living off the "royalties" from the sale of crude. Current prices for crude may be necessarily being supported by the family just to keep everyone happy-believe that? Other than that, heavy draws on gasoline inventory and refinery problems weighed heavily in the markets late in the week and bring the promise of NO RELIEF to the consumer at the pumps in spite of the lateness of the summer driving season.
Think that gasoline might be the problem?... Start thinking about what prices fr heating oil will be this winter as the August 05/05 spot was 54.50/Litre against last years 40.98/Litre.
I don't think that gasoline is a worry so much as keeping our "poor" warm this winter.

I think everyone got taken this week...Go figure!...
Here's the latest spots I have-considering that prices SHOULD HAVE come down this week BEFORE they went up again,I'm thinking that someone from Big Oil needs to "clarify" things a little...
Note here on my last posting that spots dropped back to a 47.70 cent level from a 51.55 level the previous week.Today's increase should be based on an increase from 51.55 to July 6th spot of 55.07/Litre which would be right but how come it never dropped back on the interim?
All in cents per litre...
July 01/05 50.72/Litre July 04/05 US Independance Day Holiday-No trading July 05/05 52.08/lt July 06/05 55.07/Lt
Prices might be justifiable now but not the other day!

Yes,the 20th and 23rd were the same... As I chatted about on Rick Howe's talk show this week,it appears that there is a lot of consternation in the markets when it comes to $60.00 a barrel oil. All the markets were down on profit taking (oil included) and profit warnings as oil hit that "barrier". An upcoming problem to look out for now that we all might hear about shortly... Look for the oil companies or the EIA to comment on distillate pricing as the reason why a lot of refiners haven't been producing gasoline to meet overall inventory requirements as the distillate group of fuels like diesel,heating/stove,and jet are getting the higher price now rather than gasoline. Evidence of the price difference?...The heating spot for June 23rd I have recorded as 54.13/Litre.
Just some thoughts for ya!

June 06/05 48.20/Litre June 07/05 47.60 June 08/05 47.53 June 09/05 49.87 June 10/05 48.79/Litre
Kind of steady, but it looks a little "unsteady" if you ask me,with the numbers all over the place. OPEC meets this week but the more important question should be not weather to increase output but how do we REFINE IT in the face of increased demand on the consumers part? More importantly, what are we doing to CONSERVE and have the big impact on demand?
Don't look for OPEC to really increase it's production-look for them to increase their production quota to match the actual they are doing now.
Heating oil users get ready for the shock this winter as I have spots here NOW almost 16 cents a litre over and above the same time last year.

Thought I'd better post these latest as it looks like the honeymoon might be over for a bit. Talks about Venezuela looking for a production cut and King Faud of Saudi Arabia being hospitalized played into the markets this week and the simple fact of the Gomery Inquiry causing instability in the Canadian governing scene (Canadian dollar lower against the US greenback) have all played their roles... Spots are up!... All in cents per litre...
May 25/05 46.10/Litre May 26/05 46.20/Lt May 27/05 46.76/lt
Look for around 2 cents a litre extra possibly by Monday,May 30/05...

May 17/05 45.47/Lt May 18/05 44.73/Lt May 19/05 45.56/lt May 20/05 44.93/Lt May 23/05 44.09/Lt May 24/05 44.87/Lt
Inventpries remain "untested" but the closer we get to the "summer driving season" the less likely we'll see that monstrous peak in prices that's been expected. A draw on US crude inventories for the week past however, has got to have a few thinking about that probability,as another draw ahead of the demand season may very well "motor" up prices. Keep your fingers crossed!...

Continued builds in overall gasoline supply have played in to "devalue" oil-especially gasoline itself_that it's looking more likely that price spike predictions will have to be reviewed. Looks still likely that, while being itself outside the demand season, inventories will be tested but that should be offset by the simple fact of less ol demand. Continuing hints from the markets of overall "stagnation" in the worlds economies,in spite of the International Energy Agencys projection of increased demand may well mean that prices are to remain volitile, yet in a downwards mode. While the price has dropped, there is still room for problems of supply as builds in inventories have not been extremely large-just enough to keep ahead of demand and gasoline has yet to "face the test". Let's hope that the prices continue downwards!

Spots for the last two days... Note that they're down further on less worry over inventories of crude... Note of caution here tho as we've got a month ahead of the peak summer driving season and anything could happen with imports of crude in the interim, including OPEC changing their minds on export levels. Big changes too,in the Canuck Buck against the US dollar where, over the past month,we've lost 1.5 cents against the rival currency and that's cost the consumer almost 8/10ths a litre. All prices in cents per litre...
April 28/05 47.73/litre April 29/05 46.15/Litre
Looks like another slight drop in the works here...
Regards,
George
